The New Karolinska - Design and Planning of the future Swedish healthcare center
New Karolinska Solna -- hospital of the future
The flagship of Swedish hospitals will be open to patients in 2016 and be fully completed in the autumn 2017. Surprisingly different to most of the trends (smaller hospitals in terms of size and beds, more horizontal than vertical, very well integrated into a healthcare network, etc.), it is planned as a huge structure with a very interesting approach... so, what is the model of hospital behind of this "big" proposal?
These contents (videos and brochures) explains the concept and special elements related with this state-of-the-art healthcare building. A very interesting case of study integrating healthcare, research and education, and where clinical processes, patient centeredness, technological orientation, and functional design has a lot to teach.
